Isaac is a charming 12-year-old boy who experienced headaches that affected his school performance. The headaches were on and off, so his family wasn’t initially worried. Then, when they became more regular, with each episode worse than the previous one, most of Isaac’s family members thought he had been bewitched.
Suddenly, Isaac stopped talking, which worried his parents so much that they rushed him to a nearby dispensary. Unfortunately, the dispensary wasn’t equipped to help them.

“As we were still thinking of what to do next, another doctor passed by and advised us to rush Isaac to CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda,” shares Isaac’s father, Sipiriano. “Without delay, we quickly made our way to the hospital on a Friday evening.”
World-Class Care at CURE Uganda
Sipriano says their reception at CURE Uganda exceeded their expectations. CURE’s doctors saw Isaac’s critical condition and rushed him to a CT scan, which showed he had a brain abscess—a rare but serious medical condition characterized by a collection of pus (infected material) within the brain tissue. It is typically caused by bacteria or fungi entering the brain through direct infection or spreading through the bloodstream from another part of the body.

Given the critical nature of Isaac’s condition, he was taken immediately to the operating room, where CURE’s doctors performed life-saving surgery. Afterward, Isaac’s healing was slow but consistent.

During his time at CURE Uganda, Isaac met with the spiritual ministry team. This team visits patients and caregivers to listen to their stories, offer prayers and counseling, share the gospel, and give words of encouragement.
If patients would like, the team provides them with Bibles and other Christian literature in their mother-tongue languages. The team encouraged Isaac to pray and attend church to be close to God. They also shared Psalm 147:3, where the Bible says, “God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

Isaac initially arrived at CURE Uganda feeling despondent, but his journey since then has been nothing short of remarkable. After experiencing an incredible physical transformation brought about by the Lord, Isaac has grown into a robust young boy, capable of jumping and playing football with vigor.
Sipriano expresses his gratitude for the improvement in Isaac’s health. “It has been because of CURE Uganda that Isaac can go back to school.”

Many more children like Isaac need surgeries to give them a chance at life and their parents a chance to hope. CURE Uganda is committed to responding to this need. None of this would be possible without our generous donors, who enable us to carry out our mission to treat children with life-threatening neurological conditions.
Every gift made to CURE empowers world-class Christian surgeons to be the hands and feet of Christ. Please consider making a donation that helps more kids heal with CURE Uganda.
