Position Overview
To provide treatment for physical problems resulting from illness, injury or disability and assists the rehabilitation process by developing and restoring the function of the body enabling patients to improve their mobility.

Responsibilities and Duties

Assessment of Patient assessment

  • Provides assessment, plans care and delivers a range of physical treatments to resolve, restore or maintain physical based conditions.
  • Assess, treats and monitors mobility problems providing appropriate assistance from walking aids and supports.

Treatment Function

  • Provides treatment to reduce pain, increase mobility and limit secondary functional disability providing effective and evaluated individualized programs of care.
  • Participates in ward rounds to communicate treatment plans and supports the medical team in providing holistic patient centered care.

Multidisciplinary Team Function

  • Provides support to the medical multidisciplinary team by providing physiotherapy-based assessment of the patient’s physical conditions.
  • Ensures the patient needs and progress is communicated to other members of the medical multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Attends the medical multidisciplinary team reviews as appropriate.

Medical Record Keeping Function

  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive treatment notes keeping a clinical record of treatment interventions.

Driver - Part Time-Advert#2026/01

     Position Title      :        Driver

Position Overview

To provide transport services by driving, maintaining, and managing CCHU assigned vehicles safely and efficiently in line with the logistics and fleet guidelines to ensure smooth operations of the hospital.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Transport Services Function

  • Provides transportation using hospital vehicles of goods, staff, and other authorized passengers in accordance with the hospital policies and procedures.
  • Drive hospital vehicles with strict adherence to local traffic laws and in accordance to hospital rules and regulations pertaining to vehicles.
  • Ensure punctuality and safe transportation of visitors, co-workers and patients.
  • Ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
  • Carry out hospital errands as required.

Vehicle Maintenance and Operation

  • Daily operates and maintains the vehicle (s) assigned in a manner that ensures the safety for the vehicle (s) and its passengers, and that maximizes the vehicles’ life.
  • Ensures that the vehicle road licenses and insurance are renewed as needed
  • Maintains vehicle log book for official trips, daily. Keeps accurate and up to date records of trips (mileage) and repairs that are submitted to the supervisor on a regular basis
  • Ensures that all necessary measures are taken to avoid theft of the vehicles.  These measures should include among others locking the doors and windows, avoiding using the vehicles in times and places of high risk, and also ensuring that vehicles are parked in secure places
  • Inspects the vehicles on a regular basis to detect any faults and/or damage, whether accidental or otherwise and makes suggestions for repair
  • Ensure that vehicle repairs and maintenance are carried out on time done properly as per official manufacturers specifications and work is done from officially designated workshops.
  • Ensure that the hospital vehicles are kept tidy and clean at all times. Regular day to day maintenance checks oil, water, battery, brakes and tyres using the vehicle checklist.
  • Maintain the vehicle in a satisfactory condition, including weekly cleaning of the interior and exterior and periodic (quarterly) cleaning of the motor and chassis.
  • Ensure that tires are in good working conditions at all time, and that spare tire is in good
  • Report any apparent malfunction to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that the vehicle is safely parked and locked when not in use.

Position Overview

To ensure that CURE Uganda efficiently acquires the goods and services it needs while managing costs, maintaining quality and complying with relevant regulations in the hospital.

Responsibilities and Duties

Strategic Planning

  • Develops and implements the organization's procurement strategies, clearly understands the organization's needs, market conditions, and long-term goals.
  • Manages and ensures procurement objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) are achieved by the team.
  • Emergency Preparedness plans for and manages procurement and inventory processes during emergencies or unexpected events, such as natural disasters or pandemics.

Supplier Management

  • Identifies evaluates and select suppliers in liaison with the Procurement Committee.
  • Negotiates terms, conditions, prices, and contracts with suppliers. Maintaining positive relationships with suppliers is crucial to ensure a reliable supply chain for the Hospital.

Cost Control

  • Works to reduce procurement costs and find cost-saving opportunities analyzes supplier quotes, monitoring market trends, and seeking bulk-purchasing discounts.
  • Manages the budget effectively and considers the cost constraints often associated with healthcare facilities.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensures the quality and reliability of purchased goods and services essential.
  • Collaborates with the quality assurance team to set and monitor quality standards, conduct supplier audits and assessments.
  • Implements and monitors quality assurance processes to ensure that medical products meet regulatory and safety standards.

Risk Management

  • Identifies and mitigates procurement-related risks, such as supply chain disruptions, supplier reliability issues, and compliance risks.
  • Assess the risks associated with the procurement and inventory of critical medical supplies.

Compliance

  • Ensures that the procurement process complies with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. This includes ethical, environmental, and diversity considerations.

Inventory Control

  • Manages inventory levels, preventing overstock or stock outs, and optimizing inventory turnover.
  • Collaborates with end Users, ensuring effective communication with healthcare professionals to understand their needs and preferences regarding medical products.
  • Proficiency in inventory control methods and techniques specific to healthcare, considering factors such as expiration dates and storage requirements.

Sourcing

  • Identifies and sources new suppliers, when necessary, by conducting market research, soliciting bids, and submitting them to the Procurement Committee for evaluating potential suppliers based on their capability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Participates in the Clearing of Supplies Sent to the Hospital from Abroad

  • Evaluate and verify all documentation related to procurement such as purchase requisitions and ensure that supplies are acquired in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an approved list of both local and foreign product suppliers and service providers in liaison with the Finance Manager.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of market forces of products used by the hospital such as hazards, changes in storage systems, sustainability, availability, importing procedures, etc.
  • Prepares international order supplies as the need arises in liaison with the Finance Manager.
  • Work with the Procurement Officers in selecting and recommending inventory/equipment from the donation container list within a month when a container list is received.
  • Establish the value and status of all received, verified items, and updates maintained in the system.

Contract Management

  • Drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers in coordination with the Procurement committee which includes setting contract terms, monitoring performance, and handling disputes or amendments.
  • Adheres to ethical standards in procurement practices, considering the sensitive nature of healthcare services.

Odoo Management

  • Oversees the implementation and use of procurement and Inventory software and systems to streamline processes, manage data, and improve efficiency in the Hospital.
  • Monitors the flow of transactions from the End user (Purchase Requests, Internal Requests, verification of specifications, Receipt and Consumption in the system, BIN cards, Stock takes), to Placing Purchase Orders with Suppliers, Delivery, Verifications for quality and shelf life, and receipt to the wares houses.

Staff Management

  • Leads the team of procurement co-workers, including the, Procurement Officers, Inventory Officer, and the Inventory Assistant. Set goals, provide guidance, and ensure the team's performance aligns with the organization's objectives.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepares and presents reports on procurement performance, including cost analysis, stock management, team performance, and supplier performance, and shares with the Finance Manager and SMT to guide informed decisions.
  • Proficiently utilizes healthcare information systems for tracking and managing inventory to generate reports and analyze data for decision-making.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the procurement and Inventory department as an ongoing task.
  • Implement best practices and stay up to date with industry trends.
  • Optimizes the procurement process, from supplier selection to contract management and cost control.
  • Ensures the Hospital's procurement practices align with its strategic goals and regulatory requirements while delivering value and quality.
  • Ensures regulations and best practices for the disposal of medical waste generated through inventory management process are in place.

International Accounting Manager

CURE International is a global nonprofit network of children’s hospitals that provide surgical care in a compassionate, gospel-centered environment. Services are provided at no cost to families because of the generosity of donors and partners around the world.

The International Accounting Manager provides support and oversight to CURE’s hospitals in Africa ensuring consistency and compliance with CURE’s mission, core values and operating guidelines. This position maintains a special focus on providing accounting support, financial integrity and record keeping by supporting the hospitals in budget preparation, compliance, and reporting. The International Accounting Manager is also responsible for internal audit and review functions for the hospitals and assists in policy and standards creation and implementation. 

The work location for this position can be remote work from a location on the continent of Africa or hospital based from a CURE Hospital location if one is located in your home country. Relocation is not offered for this position. All CURE required travel expenses will be covered by the organization.

Frequency of travel will be up to 40%. Travel will be required to provide support to hospital accounting teams, with an average of 4-5 country visits every 6 months.

Ideal candidates will be located on continent in Africa with easy access to airports for business travel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Financial Review and Documentation:
    1. Provide accounting support to Hospital Controllers.
    2. Review hospitals’ financial transactions and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness in Odoo.
    3. Implement and monitor fraud detection measures to safeguard financial integrity.
  2. Cash Advances and Accounts Receivable Monitoring:
    1. Oversee cash advances to ensure timely liquidation.
    2. Monitor accounts receivables to ensure timely debt collection.
  3. Account Reconciliation:
    1. Ensure all hospital accounts are properly reconciled including AR, AP, Fixed Assets, Prepaids, etc.
    2. Monitor hospital liabilities to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  4. Month-End and Year-End Closing:
    1. Collaborate with Hospital Controllers to complete month-end closing procedures according to the agreed timeline.
    2. Implement and follow the month-end and year-end checklists.
  5. On-Site Support:
    1. Travel to hospitals as needed to provide on-site financial support and resolve issues.
    2. Visit each assigned hospital at least twice a year for support and oversight.
  6. Internal Audit Support:
    1. Assist Hospital Controllers in implementing internal audit recommendations.
    2. Help finance teams develop schedules to fully implement audit recommendations.
  7. External Audit Support:
    1. Support Hospital Controllers during external audits.
    2. Review and verify audit reports and management letters.
  8. Treasury Management:
    1. Work with Hospital Controllers to coordinate cash management processes, including revenue collection, disbursement control, shortfall coverage, cash forecasting, and idle funds investment.
    2. Prepare cash forecasts and monitor cash flow to maintain appropriate operating cash balances in line with CURE International guidelines.
  9. Support for International Accounting Director:
    1. Assist the International Accounting Director with various assignments.
    2. Prepare reports on assigned tasks.
 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  2. Current and active license as a Chartered Accountant, Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or equivalent, preferred.
  3. Minimum of seven (7) years related experience in supporting the accounting and financial reporting functions of a small to medium-sized organization.

Position Overview:
To support safe, efficient, and compassionate anesthesia services by preparing equipment, managing supplies, assisting during procedures, and maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.

Key Result Area and Activities 

Anesthesia Setup and Support

  • Prepare and clean anesthesia equipment tailored to each case (age, weight, procedure).
  • Assist anesthesia provider during induction and emergence phases.
  • Support daily OR routines as directed by anesthesia provider or Operating Room In-Charge.
  • Help transfer patients post-procedure when needed.

Stock Management and Documentation

  • Restock anesthesia cart and store daily.

Provide Pre- and Post-Surgical Care to Patients

  • Ensures the patient is fully prepared 30 minutes before the time of call to the theatre.
  • Ensures that the NPO is well communicated and understood by the patient /caregiver immediately after anesthesia review and accurate documentation is done in the patient’s chart.
  • Ensures that the pre-operative vital signs are done and any other orders processed and all charted 30 mins before surgery.
  • Ensures that the comprehensive surgical checklist is filled 30 minutes before the patient is called to the theatre.
  • Ensures that all relevant preoperative lab investigations about the patient's surgery have been done and filed before the patient is called to the theatre.
  • Ensures that the PACU form is signed immediately after receiving a detailed verbal and written report from the PACU Nurse.
  • Ensures that the post-operative orders are read, understood, and implemented immediately after receiving the patient.
  • Ensures that fluid balance chart is accurately filled and balanced off at the end of 24hrs when initiated on a patient.

Process Doctors Orders

  • Ensures a well-organized workstation 30 minutes before the ward round starts.
  • Actively participates in ward rounds with the multidisciplinary team during his/her shift.
  • Follows up on laboratory tests 30 minutes after they are requested and immediately gives feedback to the attending clinician.

Cares For Wounds Using Sterile Technique

  • Set appropriate sterile and non-sterile equipment/procedure room 10 minutes before the procedure.
  • Performs immediate hand hygiene before the start of the procedure.
  • Uses appropriate PPEs during the procedure.
  • Appropriately disinfect all used instruments and prepare them for sterilization by 11:00 AM.
  • Appropriately segregate and dispose off the waste in the proper bins immediately after the procedure.
  • Documents all pre-, intra, and post-wound dressing findings in the patient’s chart immediately upon completion of the procedure.

Documentation

  • Implement orders in the patient chart within 30 minutes of receiving.
  • Provides a comprehensive, clear, and accurate record of the patient’s condition, treatments, and responses as per the patient’s chart.
  • Ensures the documentation is complete, timely, and reflects real-time patient care as per the EMR timestamps.
  • Ensures clear, legible, and easy-to-understand documentation with the use of standardized abbreviations.
  • Adheres to privacy and legal requirements in the documentation process.
  • Ensures documentation is consistent with the patient’s care plan as in the EMR.
  • Effectively uses clinical tools and systems for documentation.
  • Performs patient chart audit and records in the 24-hour chart check before 12am.

Conduct an Appropriate Handover Process

  • Receives patient report from the previous shift and confirms the entries made as per patient handover form.
  • Write a receiving report documenting the assessment findings as per CURE Uganda standards of patient assessment.
  • Makes inventory of all available supplies and equipment before receiving or handing over as per equipment handover checklist.
  • Writes as handover clearly stating what transpired during the shift, especially regarding vitals, medicines given, and status of the patient as per the patient handover form.

Daily Management of the Resuscitation Trolley During the Assigned Shift

  • Ensure emergency trolleys are fully stocked and readily available at all times.
  • Verify that all required drugs and equipment are present and within expiry date.
  • Confirm that the defibrillator and oxygen supply are functional.
  • Checking for expired drugs and supplies daily and notifying the shift supervisor of the short expiries.
  • Complete and document daily trolley checks each shift as per the checklist.
  • Report and follow up on any discrepancies or shortages promptly to the shift supervisor.
  • Participate in audits and reviews related to emergency preparedness, identify areas of improvement, and implement corrective actions.

Carries Out Shift Leader Role

  • Assists the shift supervisor in ensuring that all admitted patients have been assigned a bed and an attending nurse within 15 minutes.
  • Assists the ward clerk/shift supervisor in ensuring that all discharged and referred patients have been entered in the discharge register by the discharging nurse within 30 minutes.
  • Acts as a point of contact in the ICU/Ward in the absence of the shift supervisor.
  • Assists the shift supervisor in ensuring that the team has prepared for the ward round 30 minutes before the starting time.
  • Assists the shift supervisor in ensuring the ward is tidy at all times.
  • Assists the shift supervisor in ensuring that clean hospital linen is available for caregivers during his/her shift.

Anesthesiologist Talent Pipeline

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Anesthesiologist is responsible for providing anesthesia for the patients requiring surgical intervention in the hospital. In this capacity, the anesthesiologist will also need to oversee the nurse anesthetists or anesthetic officers. The role of the anesthesiologist will also include oversight of the HDU/ICU and any critically ill patient on the ward. The anesthesiologist will review all codes in the hospital and oversee the debrief. Sub speciality expertise in pediatric anesthesia is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Complete and document preoperative anesthesia evaluations of patients and order necessary lab work/consultation or any other preoperative investigations at least the day prior to surgery.
  2. Review preoperative patient charts for pertinent lab work, history and physical examination, vital signs chart, fluid status and medication sheet.
  3. Choose the safest and most appropriate anesthetic for the patient: general, regional, MAC, local or combination and utilize the correct monitors for that anesthetic for the duration of the surgery.  Manage the patient airway adequately utilizing the mask, bag-valve mask, intubation, LMA, and other emergency airway procedures. 
  4. Accurately manage fluid resuscitation in the patient and measure blood loss regularly. 
  5. Oversee the safe functioning of the anesthesia machine, oxygen supply, suction, and all equipment necessary to provide anesthesia in close consultation with the biomedical team.  
  6. Perform various regional anesthesia techniques as required.  
  7. Assess and implement pain management in the post operative recovery period.
  8. Identify and treat intra operative & post operative anesthesia complications as soon as they occur..
  9. Accurately and thoroughly chart patient physiological data, medications & fluids administered contemporaneously pre, intra, and post operatively.
  10. Set up all necessary monitors and drugs, and check the anesthesia machine and oxygen supply prior to each anesthetic.  
  11. Read and comply with all network anesthesia guidelines and SOPs.
  12. Seek opportunities to teach staff both clinically and didactically with regards to advanced life support, anesthesia, & pain management.
  13. Protect the patient from harm utilizing proper positioning techniques and act as an advocate for the patient’s welfare.
  14. Maintain competency of anesthesia practice in accordance with professional standards established by the profession.
  15. Participate in resuscitation of patients when required.
  16. Oversee the maintenance of an accurate narcotic count and supply in the operating room and post-anesthesia care unit.
  17. Oversee work of the Anesthesia Technicians/nurses/officers or other assigned employees.  
  18. Ensure adequate restocking of anesthesia supplies by supervising the Anesthesia Technicians or other assigned employees.
  19. Report to the Medical Director at any time when it appears to be unsafe to use the operating rooms (e.g. lack of oxygen).
  20. Act as an anesthesia consultant to anesthesia providers and medical/surgical staff.

Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon Talent Pipeline

CURE International is continually building a pipeline of qualified Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeons who may be interested in serving at one of our pediatric specialty hospitals in the future. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The pediatric orthopedic surgeon is a specialist in pediatric orthopedic surgery and continues to further develop their expertise in this subspecialty. This individual is confident in the assessment and management of children with a range of musculoskeletal pathology. Operating under the guidance of fellowship-trained faculty, the pediatric orthopedic surgeon provides excellent surgical care to patients and ensures a high-level of safety for both patients and staff, adhering to all the quality standards of CURE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. Assess patients with musculoskeletal disability, taking and recording a salient history, examination and formulating an appropriate management plan including relevant investigations and surgical or non-operative management.
  2. Participate in traveling to mobile clinics in different parts of the country as organized by the hospital and assigned to by the head of orthopedics.
  3. Treat patients and families with care and respect, adhering to the highest standards of medical ethics.
  4. When surgical management is appropriate, undertaking careful consent, clarifying to the patient (where appropriate) and family member the nature of the procedure that is advised, the risks, possible alternatives and nature of anesthesia required.
  5. Create pre-operative plans for each surgery, discussing with fellow faculty members the surgical plans.
  6. Provide a high standard of surgical care, adhering to the highest standards of sterile operative technique while creating a cohesive team environment centered on safety and quality care.
  7. Record each step of patient care in the Electronic Medical Record and inpatient paper charts.
  8. Recognize complications that arise and respond appropriately, including discussing the event with the Medical Director and reporting it in the quarterly Morbidity and Mortality meetings.
  9. Ensure a high level of patient and staff safety is upheld at all times.
  10. Participate actively in the training activities of the hospital and willingly engage in quality improvement projects, audit and research.
  11. Update surgical techniques, instrumentation and implants dedicated to pediatric orthopedic surgery.
